Matteo took his first win in Class 1 in Oslo in 2004, his second in Trondheim the following year and with two podium finishes added European Champion to his impressive CV. He has been involved in powerboat racing for over 15 years and has achieved a string of successes with over 60 race wins in various classes. His successes include winning the 1990 Class 3, 6litre Italian Championship, the 1991 Class 3, 6litre European Championship and his first world title in 1997, lifting the Class 2 world crown with Ken Thorne in Argentina. In 2006 he won the Class 3, 6 litre World and Middle East Championships and the GCC Championship last year. His reputation as a world class throttleman stems from his experience in designing and building top flight powerboats at Lecco-based, Nicolini Offshore, which he runs with his brother Luca.
